  1.  The Livigno ski area is divided into two parts: Carosello and Mottolino. Each side has several slopes. However, if you want greater variety, choose Carosello. It has almost three times as many slopes as Mottolino.
  2. The Livigno slopes are rather high. You’ll be spending most of your vacation at about 2500 meters. Make sure you can handle such height without getting dizzy. Consider starting out on the lowest slopes first.
  3. If you are not an avid skier, consider taking classes at the skiing school. Be prepared to take classes in the morning only. Most of the skiing schools in Italy don’t have afternoon or evening classes. Some of these schools offer all-day care for young children, which doesn’t include skiing. All the staff speaks English.
  4. If you are a snowboarder, you’ll be glad to know that the wide pistes accommodate the snowboarders with any skill levels. There are over 100 km3 of surfaces available to test your snowboarding skills.
  5. If you are a beginner, try to opt for nursery slopes. Even when you feel your skill levels are rising, switching to a higher slope might not always be a good idea. Pay close attention to the rating of the pistes.
  6. Intermediate skiers can enjoy black and red pistes in both Mottolino and Carosello. Pay special attention at the snow condition in the afternoon. The black pistes can get icy.
  7. Even if you are a late sleeper, choose one day to wake up early and get to the top before anyone else touches the perfectly groomed and smooth slopes. You’ll get a chance to take in the most amazing views. Learn when the lifts open and get there 5 minutes in advance.
  8. There are 12 black (advanced), 37 red (intermediate), and 20 blue (easy) ski slopes. At the Piccolo Tibet, there are 11 ski lifts, 6 cableways, and 13 chair lifts.
  9. Night skiing is available as well. But only one lift will be working.
  10. Take advantage of various events arranged in Livigno area. Spending the whole day on the slopes is fun but take a day or two to rest and enjoy other activities. If you go in December, take advantage of the fabulous Christmas markets.
  11. Book accommodations as close to the skiing area as possible. The location is everything. Besides enjoying a short walk to the ski rental and other facilities, you’ll get to take in magnificent views when you look out of your window.
  12. Browse through the Livigno websites to find out about special offers. You can even get a free ski pass.
Skiing vacation is always something to remember. The more research you do before going, the more you’ll be able to enjoy it while spending less money.
